Be assured the gang bangers are just turning in junk guns or guns they've stolen. They're keeping their good ones. Some decent gun owners turn in junk guns also. A rifle or shotgun with a rusted out, pitted barrel and a cracked stock or old no-name revolvers with stripped out cylinders - these are no big loss. You'd be lucky to get $10 for these type of guns at a gun shop.

But then there are little old ladies turning in their deceased husbands' gun collections out of ignorance. THAT is what is sad. That's why its important for responsible gun owners to hand down family heirloom firearms before they die.

......hmmmm

Maybe I need to get a few 'junk' guns to turn in as decoys if and when that time comes my direction.

I was thinking the same thing.........

Have a few rusted pistols just in case ceaser comes knocking at the door.

But keep the "peace makers" in deep storage.

My friend has a gun shop. It's decorated with tons of rusted out or broken beyond repair old revolvers. I've always thought about asking for a couple of them. Shine them up, or maybe refinish them so they look halfway presentable and turn them in if the situation arises.

"Oh yes, here are some antiques my grandfather handed down to me. Go ahead and take them, I have no interest in guns anyway."

OR,

"Well, this is all we have.......just a few heirloom relics we've kept around. I suppose I don't need to keep any guns in the house anyways."

Or you could just "hand over" your firearms "one round at a time."

I think either response would be appropriate in a gun roundup/confiscation scenario.

Better idea is maybe put an ad on craigs list saying I will give a 100 dollar coupon for every working gun turned in to me?

We had a gun buy back a while ago in Phoenix. Not certain how they can buy "back" something that was never theirs in the first place.

They were offering $100 grocery cards

Several folks from arizonashooting.com went down. A couple folks intercepted sellers in the parking lot and bought up anything worth having. The others traded in some basically worthless old junk, i.e. Ravens (worth around $25), old broken single shot shotguns that would cost more to fix than they would be worth working.
